This tutorial will only be helpful to you if

  • you are administering Joomla version 1.0.8 - 1.0.15. This does not yet apply to Joomla 1.5.
  • you are running JCE WYSIWYG Text Editor with File Manager Plugin (you have to pay $US 20 to download it -- very worth the money). If you're not using JCE with File Manager, this tutorial will not help you.

---------------

  1. Make sure that the PDF is saved to your computer in a place where you can easily locate it. The filename canNOT have spaces, symbols or special characters: LikeThis.pdf Only letters, numbers, underscores and dashes.
  2. Place the cursor where you would like the PDF title link to be inserted into your content.
  3. Use the icon_filemanager.jpgicon to open the File Manager Window.
  4. Upload the PDF icon_imagemanager_upload.jpg using Browse and then Upload.
  5. Scroll in the list and identify your PDF by clicking on it so that it highlights. The “Details” window should populate with your PDF file details.
  6. At the top of the window, the Title is the name of the link that will appear on your page. I recommend that you check all 3 boxes: Icon, Date, and File Size.
  7. Click Insert!
  8. If your Title is not in the position you want, you can move it around like MS Word by using Cut and Paste, just as you would text. I often add parenthesis () around the Date and File size to differentiate it from the title of the PDF. Looks better that way.
